He is a specialist Criminal Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience in all Criminal Proceedings and regularly appears in Crown Courts and Magistrates Courts
throughout the United Kingdom.
Having co-founded Meldrum Solicitors LLP after practising criminal law for more than 15 years, his experience has involved him defending clients charged in relation to customs and excise
prosecutions, serious crime, major fraud and court martial. Carl's clients cross the spectrum from young to old, rich to poor and white collar professionals to
blue collar manual workers.
He has represented foreign nationals involved in money laundering investigations and many cross border investigations involving both national police forces and
Interpol.
He has also advised clients both in the United Kingdom and abroad on Extradition matters both to and from the UK and dealt with clients facing International Arrest
Warrants.
Carl is registered as a Grade A fee earner as part of the VHCC serious fraud panel and undertakes preperation and junior brief work in contract cases. He is also
registered as an Independent Advocate on the VHCC Panel and is available to undertake work on these cases for other firms.
Carl's cases range from the most complex of murder cases to the most minor road traffic allegations and is regarded in the profession as an accomplished trial lawyer.
His work defending clients was also featured as part of a television documentary, which followed one of Scotland Yard’s specialist crime units.
Before concentating solely on Defence work, Carl prosecuted on behalf of the R.S.P.C.A and for the Federation Against Copyright Theft.

Away from everyday practice, Carl is involved in the training of new Solicitors as Advocates, the training of probationer Police Officers in giving evidence in Magistrates and Crown Court
trials and has lectured to numerous schools on the legal rights of juveniles.
He has also written extensively for the Law Society Gazette on the subject of Higher Rights Advocacy.
Having been involved in the Martial Arts since the age of 6 yrs and a Martial Arts Instructor for the last 25 years, not only in the United Kingdom but
also around the world to both civilians, door supervisors and law enforcement personnel, Carl undertakes a large amount of work on behalf of Door Supervisors and also advises the Security Profession on the Legal Aspects of their work.
